Young Researcher "Startup Package" Call for project

This call for projects aims to support and promote young researchers in the field of quantum matter at Université PSL.

Selected applicants will receive a start-up package of €75,000 to launch their research activity. The awarded funding must be used within three years of reception and may cover equipment purchases, operational expenses, or the salary of a postdoctoral researcher. It cannot, however, be used to pay the laureate’s own salary.

Eligible profiles:

  • Permanent staff (MdC, CNRS CR or Junior Professor-CPJ) working in PSL’s component institutions involved in the Q-MAT project (ENS - PSL, ESPCI Paris - PSL, Collège de France, Chimie ParisTech - PSL, Observatoire de Paris - PSL), recruited less than 3 years prior to the application date.
  • Candidates must have defended their PhD within the seven calendar years preceding the year of application submission.
  • ERC grant laureates are not eligible.

Specific additional conditions:

Maternity leave: One additional year of eligibility will be granted per child.
Paternity leave: An eligibility extension may be granted, the duration of which will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Disability: Candidates with disabilities who defended their PhD more than 7 years before the application year may receive an eligibility extension (up to 12 years).

Selection criteria:

The main criteria are the scientific excellence of the project, its originality, and its ambition.
The steering committee of the Q-MAT program will assess applications based on its review of the submitted documents and the reports of external experts.
